1 - What are
S/NVQs? S/NVQ stands for "Scottish/National Vocational Qualification". They differ from Academic qualifications in that they are work-based and most of the assessment required will be taken from performance, by the participant, in the workplace. The standards set to gain an S/NVQ are set by the industry and define the skills and knowledge required to perform satisfactorily in a given area of work. Each set of standards has been developed by the appropriate Industry Lead Body. 2 - Benefits to employers include: Funding, or part funding,to meet the costs of nationally approved training A Qualification that is achieved through
on-the-job performance Participants develop a greater awareness of business objectives 3 - Benefits to employees include: A Nationally recognised
qualification No time limits are set on gaining the qualification 4 - Why else should you choose S/NVQs? S/NVQs are nationally approved qualifications and as such are supported by Local Enterprise Companies. This means that if your company is interested in introducing S/NVQs to your workforce, this can be provided by an approved training company, like TELL, often free of charge or part grant funded. The Tell Organisation is approved by Scottish Enterprise Dunbartonshire, Scottish Enterprise Glasgow, Scottish Enterprise Renfrewshire and Scottish Enterprise Lanarkshire to offer a wide range of S/NVQs.
