The Get Ready for Work programme is open to young people aged 16 to 19 who need a little help in preparing to enter the world of work.
Skills such as reading, writing and numeracy are essential for the world of work. If you're aged 16 to 19 our Get Ready for Work programme can help you improve your vocational and core skills, fill any knowledge gaps and boost your overall employability.
Our Get Ready for Work team will work closely with you for up to six months. Then, once you feel ready to put what you've learned into practice, you'll be given a valuable work experience placement with a business relevant to your interests and skills.
We will support you throughout your placement, so you'll always have an expert available to chat to about your experience and answer any queries. And you never know - you may even end up with a permanent job at the end of your placement.
If you take part on a full-time basis you will receive a training allowance and may be eligible to claim travel costs.
Contact your local Careers Scotland centre or call the Careers Scotland helpline on 0845 8 502 502 to find out about getting ready for work.
